John F. Kensett
John Frederick Kensett (22 Maret 1816 – 14 Desember 1872) adalah pelukis lanskap dan pengukir lahir di Cheshire, Connecticut, Amerika Serikat. Sebagai anggota generasi kedua seniman Hudson River School, karya khas Kensett adalah lukisan lanskap New England dan Negara Bagian New York, yang permukaannya cerah dan tenang merayakan kualitas transendental alam, dan dikaitkan dengan Luminisme. Karya awal Kensett banyak dipengaruhi oleh Thomas Cole, tetapi sejak awal dibedakan oleh preferensi untuk warna yang lebih dingin dan minat pada topografi yang tidak terlalu dramatis, mendukung pengekangan pada palet dan komposisi.[1] Karya kedewasaan Kensett menampilkan pemandangan tenang yang digambarkan dengan geometri cadangan, yang berpuncak pada serangkaian lukisan di mana tanjung pantai seimbang dengan air sehalus kaca.[2] Dia adalah pendiri Museum Seni Metropolitan.
