Film Terbaik (BAFTA)

Film Terbaik (BAFTA Award) diberikan setiap tahun oleh British Academy of Film and Television Arts dan dipersembahkan oleh British Academy Film Awards. Penghargaan ini sudah diberikan sejak kali pertama BAFTA Awards diselenggarakan, bagi film-film produksi 1947, namun sampai dengan tahun 1969 penghargaan ini berubah menjadi BAFTA Award for Best Film From Any Source. Mungkin ini disebabkan oleh karena film-film dari beberapa negara masuk nominasi, meskipun film-film Inggris juga diketahui masuk kategori BAFTA Award for Best British Film dan (sejak 1983) film berbahasa asing di BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. Dengan demikian, ada beberapa kesempatan dari sebuah film yang dinominasikan dalam dua kategori tersebut.

Ada satu persaingan untuk penghargaan Film Terbaik ketika pada tahun 1962, Ballad of a Soldier berhadapan dengan The Hustler untuk kategori Film Terbaik dari beberapa sumber. Sampai dengan tahun 1981, penghargaan diberikan kepada sutradara,[1] kecuali pada tahun 1976 dan 1977, yang pernah diberikan kepada produser. Sejak tahun 1981 sampai 1985, penghargaan ini diberikan semata-mata kepada para produser pada tahun1986, dibagi antara sutradara dan produser. Pada tahun 1998, pernah sekali lagi diberikan hanya kepada para produser.
