Perjanjian Austria-Korea 1902 dinegosiasikan antara perwakilan Austria-Hungaria dan Kekaisaran Korea.
Latar belakang
suntingPada tahun 1876, Korea melakukan perjanjian perdagangan dengan Jepang setelah kapal Jepang mendekati Ganghwado dan mengancam akan menembak ibu kota Korea. Negosiasi perjanjian dengan beberapa negara-negara Barat yang dimungkinkan oleh selesainya pembukaan Jepang yang pertama ini.[1]
Pada tahun 1882, Amerika melakukan perjanjian dan mendirikan hubungan diplomatik,[2] yang menjabat sebagai contoh awal untuk negosiasi berikutnya dengan kekuatan Barat lainnya.
Ketentuan perjanjian
suntingBelgia dan Korea menegosiasikan dan disetujui perjanjian multi-artikel dengan ketentuan yang sama dengan negara-negara Barat lainnya.[3]
Menteri dari Austria untuk Korea bisa saja ditunjuk sesuai dengan perjanjian ini; tapi urusan diplomatik ditangani oleh diplomat Jerman di Asia Timur.[3]
Perjanjian itu tetap berlaku bahkan setelah protektorat didirikan pada tahun 1905.[4]
