Incipit (/ˈɪnsɪpɪt/)[1] dari sebuah teks adalah beberapa kata pertama dari teks tersebut, yang dijadikan sebagai label identifikasi. Dalam komposisi musik, sebuah incipit adalah bagian awal dari not, dengan tujuan yang sama. Kata incipit berasal dari Latin dan memiliki arti "permulaan".
