Helen Frankenthaler
Helen Frankenthaler (12 Desember 1928 – 27 Desember 2011) adalah seorang pelukis ekspresionis abstrak Amerika. Dia adalah kontributor utama sejarah lukisan Amerika pascaperang. Setelah memamerkan karyanya selama lebih dari enam dekade (awal 1950-an hingga 2011), ia membentang beberapa generasi pelukis abstrak sambil terus menghasilkan karya baru yang vital dan selalu berubah.[1] Frankenthaler mulai memamerkan lukisan abstrak ekspresionis berskala besar di museum dan galeri kontemporer pada awal 1950-an. Dia diikutsertakan dalam pameran Post-Painterly Abstraction 1964 yang dikuratori oleh Clement Greenberg yang memperkenalkan generasi baru lukisan abstrak yang kemudian dikenal sebagai Color Field. Lahir di Manhattan, ia dipengaruhi oleh lukisan Greenberg, Hans Hofmann, dan Jackson Pollock. Karyanya telah menjadi subjek dari beberapa pameran retrospektif, termasuk retrospektif 1989 di Museum Seni Modern di New York City, dan telah dipamerkan di seluruh dunia sejak 1950-an. Pada tahun 2001, ia dianugerahi Medali Seni Nasional.
