Fisiologi komparatif (Fisiologi Perbandingan) adalah subdisiplin fisiologi yang mempelajari dan mengeksploitasi keragaman karakteristik fungsional dari berbagai jenis organisme. Hal ini erat kaitannya dengan fisiologi evolusi dan fisiologi lingkungan. Banyak universitas menawarkan program sarjana yang mencakup aspek perbandingan fisiologi hewan.
Sejarah
suntingAwalnya, fisiologi difokuskan terutama pada manusia, dan sebagian besar bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan praktik medis. Ketika Ahli fisiologi mulai membandingkan spesies yang berbeda itu, kadang-kadang mereka juga ingin tahu secara sederhana untuk memahami bagaimana organisme bekerja tetapi juga berasal dari keinginan untuk menemukan prinsip-prinsip fisiologis dasar. Penggunaan organisme tertentu yang nyaman untuk mempelajari pertanyaan spesifik dikenal sebagai Prinsip Krogh.
