Clifford Edmund Bosworth

Clifford Edmund Bosworth FBA (29 Desember 1928 – 28 Februari 2015) adalah seorang sejarawan dan orientalis Inggris, yang mengkhususkan diri dalam studi Arab dan Iran. Ia menerima gelar BA dari Universitas Oxford dan gelar MA dan PhD dari Universitas Edinburgh. Ia menduduki jabatan permanen di Universitas St Andrews, Universitas Manchester, dan Center for the Humanities di Universitas Princeton. Ia telah menulis ratusan artikel dalam jurnal akademik maupun volume komposit. Kontribusi lainnya adalah hampir 200 artikel di Encyclopaedia of Islam dan sekitar 100 artikel di Encyclopædia Iranica, serta artikel-artikel untuk Encyclopædia Britannica dan Encyclopedia Americana. Ia juga merupakan profesor tamu di Universitas Exeter, di mana telah dijalaninya sejak tahun 2004. Salah satu kontribusinya adalah penelitian sejarah Islam di kawasan Afganistan dan Asia Tengah, yang menambah keragaman studi sejarah Islam di kalangan Barat yang ketika itu banyak berfokus ke Timur Tengah saja.[1]

Bukunya The Islamic dynasties telah diterjemahkan ke bahasa Arab dan Persia. Ia pernah berperan sebagai pemimpin redaksi Encyclopaedia of Islam dan editor konsultan untuk Encyclopaedia Iranica.[2]
