Ordinary Seaman Samuel S. Triplett, United States Navy. Halftone reproduction of a photograph, published in Deeds of Valor, Volume II, page 406, by the Perrien-Keydel Company, Detroit, 1907. Samuel S. Triplett was awarded the Medal of Honor for "displaying heroism" during mine clearance operations at Caimanera, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on 26-27 July 1898, during the Spanish-American War. He was then serving in USS Marblehead (Cruiser # 11).
